U12's Success in Landrover Cup
Following on from their fantastic success in Marlow the previous weekend, Jersey U12’s headed off to Oakham RFC for the Leicester Tiger’s round of the Land Rover Premiership Cup. Facing opposition they had never met before the squad quickly realised that they would have to play to their full potential from the beginning. They did and topped their pool with three straight wins. The first game was agianst Melton, Two tries from Jonathon Glendening led to a 10-5 victory. Next were Market Harborough and a last play breakaway gave Glendening his third try. Jersey win 5-0. The last pool game was aginst Wolverhampton, either side would qualify with a win. Two tries were scored one by Harrison Berresford the next Glendening again. Jersey win 10-5
This led to a semi final; they played the game perfectly and despite a hard fought draw against Hinkley they qualified having scored first and went through to meet Stratford RFC in the final. Despite a fantastic performance from a very tired whole squad they lost 3-0.
Reaching the final gives the team the opportunity to travel to Twickenham on Premiership finals day, watch the match and take a lap of honour in front of 81,000 people. A day hopefully they will never forget.
