The weather is changing!!

It had to happen.  The sun has shone for the first six weeks of the season to "lure" prospective players into the fold and now the weather is due to change to test their resolve.  If you are a new player, you should have already collected the black waterproof training top from the Clubhouse.  If you were with us last year, you can either soldier on with last year’s issue or maybe put one of the new tops on your Christmas list.

On that note, It is very important to ensure that all players are adequately prepared for the weather.  This should include tracksuit trousers and a rugby shirt under the training top.  You may also want to explore "cycling mitts" as these keep the fingers exposed but cover the hands and palms. If the weather is bitterly cold, some players wore woolen hats to train in, as a large percentage of bodyheat is lost through the head.

Let’s not forget that your player will still need their drink which is to be kept pitchside.  If you are using the red JRFC bottle that we distributed at the start of the season, then please remember to mark your player’s name on it.

Lastly, although there is no contact in Tag rugby, accidents may happen.  We would endorse that your player wear a gumshield to play in.  Firstly, this is a safety issue and secondly, it gets the players used to wearing one for other sports.  You can get one fitted by a Dentist which can be a costly affair, as teeth come and go at this age, or, use one of the shields that are moulded in hot water.  At a cost of £6-£7 this can be a more cost effective way forward.

Let the fun begin.
