Academy sends kit to IRB SoS KitAid

JerseyRugbyAcademy sends SOS

Children in a chosen SOS listed country will soon be sporting old JerseyRugbyAcademy kit, which is being kindly donated by the JerseyRugbyAcademy, as part of the charitable projectSOS IRB Kit Aid.  Thanks to local fiduciary services company and primary Academy sponsors, Dominion, providing the players with new branded kit this season the Academy has a large amount of old kit that is being sent to this worthy cause.

SOS Kit Aid is a green rugby initiative that gives less advantaged children around the world a chance to play and develop rugby in emerging nations; through the collection and distribution of unused and unwanted recycled rugby kit from the UK and Ireland. The JerseyRugbyAcademy has partnered with Jersey Post to have the kit delivered to the UK base before being sent to several of SOS's existing sixteen recipient countries.

Academy Chairman, Kevin Lemasney explains: "We are delighted to be working in association with Jersey Post to be able to contribute towards this great cause. The initiative wouldn't be possible, however, if Dominion weren't so generous this season by providing the Academy players with new branded training and playing kit. This was donated over and above their five year sponsorship deal, reinforcing their generous support of our thriving club. We feel proud to be doing our bit to make a difference to young people who find themselves in circumstances less fortunate than ourselves. Anything we can do to help spread the spirit of rugby we are glad to be a part of."

For the past ten years, SOS has saved nearly 60,000kgs of quality rugby kit from being thrown needlessly into scarce, environmentally damaging UK landfill sites. The charity's mission is all about social inclusivity, social integration, and recycling badly needed resources.  It is a scheme where people from all walks of life with a passion for rugby, can come together and participate to make a difference to less advantaged young children's lives around the world. At the same time, those involved can also help the environment by recycling quality kit and help limit damage to the precious climate. - Ends-
