Jersey Youth are looking to resume their campaign in the Hampshire League with a victory against visiting Alton RFC at the Rugby Club this Sunday (kick off 1 pm)
This will be the sixth game forJerseyin the league and the first return match. It will also be the first league match this season to be played on home ground for the Colts at the Jersey Rugby Club.
Current rules dictate that Jersey teams playing in Hampshire league games are obliged to travel to the UK for matches unless the opposing team agree to travel. Alton are the first team this season who were happy to come over for the return match.
Jersey & Alton played each other in October with the former having a pretty convincing win. That said Alton had two very convincing wins in their last two matches against Tottonians andGuilfordtherefore nothing can be taken for granted.
We are really pleased that Alton have decided to come and give us a game on home turf. Whilst the Jersey team (sponsors Bedell) subsidise some of the cost of travel for the visiting team, we recognise that Alton are covering a proportion of the cost and are very grateful to them. As we usually play in theUKnot many supporters get to see us. A home match not only allows us to field a full team and reserves but also importantly allows family and friends to watch and support the team. It will be good for the colts to have a lot of local support.
We aim to ensure thatAltonnot only have a good game but also a good day out. Hopefully we will able to encourage other teams in the league to come over toJerseyfor their return matches.
