Havant U14s v Jersey in the Hampshire League

Havant U14 v Jersey 11 December

Score: 31-0 to Havant

Jersey Under 14's succumbed to the lightening start of the Havant squad and unfortunately conceded 3 tries and 1 conversion within the first 10 minutes of the game. The Jersey lads fought hard to play catch up and this was reflected in the balance of play where for 40 minutes the Jersey team had the upper hand but were unable to cross the try line despite being camped there for long periods.

At half time the score was 24-0 and the experience of the coaches was evident in the interval team talk as the lads came out with renewed determination in the second half. The tenacity of the forwards and the running skills of the backs kept the pressure on Havant for the remainder of the match. The Havant forwards became increasingly frustrated as further points for them were hard in coming although they secured a final try and conversion during a period of untidy play in the last minute of the game.

Credit to the Jersey lads who stood tall and took the game back to a very strong Havant squad. Despite the  score, this was an encouraging performance for future encounters.
