Level 1 successes

Bravo and congratulations to all the coaches who completed the RFU Level 1 coaching course this weekend.

The course involved two officials from the RFU coming over from Thursday to Sunday to co-ordinate and deliver the course, along with Jersey RDO, David MCCormack. A great amount of thanks must be given to Ivan Torpey (Hampshire RFU), the course leader, and Alan Low (Dorset and Wilts RFU) the Coach Educator for providing an in depth, professionally delivered course in which candidates of both genders and varied rugby experience gained a great deal of knowledge, skills and understanding to help them develop as rugby coaches and further improve the already high quality of provision for Rugby on Jersey.

As Rugby Development Officer, the 16 candidates who ranged from school teachers to touch rugby players to academy coaches, made me proud to be associated with the body of enthusiastic and passionate people involved in Rugby on the island and the RFU personnel commented on how positive and keen the candidates were to develop and progress as coaches.

Special thanks must be given to St.Michael's Prep School who allowed us the use of their excellent facilities to enable a positive working environment for all to flourish and enabled such a successful course to produce more excellent coaches to go into the community and develop and improve all aspects of rugby on the island.
