2009/10 Season U16 Appreciation Society No, it's not a society to appreciate our U16's special though they may be but the U16's themselves getting together to do something to show their appreciation of what they have got out of the Rugby Club over the years!
Some of the guys have been involved since U7 level and pretty well all have had at least five years where they have been involved in all that the club provides in coaching, playing, trips away etc. and this will all soon come to an end as far as the Academy involvement is concerned when they move up to U17 level. So to mark the end of this phase of their rugby careers they are getting together to raise some money for a worthy cause for something associated with the club.
They' re looking to provide a defibrillator to be located at the Rugby Club in line with the St John's Ambulance campaign to get as many such devices as possible distributed around Jersey. The need for this was demonstrated quite recently when a spectator collapsed at a Jersey home game with a heart attack and may have been saved if this device was available.
The 2009/10 U16's raised enough money for the defibrillator for the Club well done to all Involved.
Chairman's note. What a fantastic initiative from this group of players. We hope that their endeavour will be a successful and that future U16 squads will continue the tradition.
