Remember when coaches are selecting squads they are looking for the 5 'A's'. Good rugby players have and always will display the 5 'A's':-
We train from 9am (sharp) to 10.15/10.30am every Sunday. We play 'tag' rugby (no contact allowed) following RFU guidelines. This is a safe and enjoyable introduction to rugby designed to introduce children to a lifetime of rugby. We aim to ensure that ALL our squad reach their maximum potential through fun training sessions with qualified coaches with particular focus on ensuring the children are having FUN!!
A typical Sunday training session is as follows:-
8.45 - 9 am - Arrive (with tag belts on) and warm up under coaches guidance
9am - Rugby skills development
9.45 am - Game play
10.15/10.30 - finish
TOP TIPS FOR ALL U7 PLAYERS AND PARENTS
The Academy provides training tops and shorts on registration and your child will be given a tag belt when they attend their first training session. Please ensure your child arrives each week in the appropriate kit and with their tag belt on.
THE ESSENTIAL KIT YOU NEED IS TO PLAY:
Gum shield Rugby or football boots Socks Rugby top
OPTIONAL KIT BUT STRONGLY ADVISED:-
'Skins' - underlayers for the cold days Fingerless rugby gloves
Both the above are available from most sports shops in town.
WE TRAIN COME RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE SO PLEASE MAKE SURE EVERY PLAYER IS 'LAYERED UP" FOR TRAINING AND HAS A WOOLY HAT (NO BOBBLES!!) - THE CLUB VERSION AVAILABLE FROM THE SHOP ON A SUNDAY MORNING IS A GOOD OPTION. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT IF THE PLAYERS ARE GOING TO ENJOY WINTER TRAINING - SORRY TO SOUND LIKE A NAG BUT A T-SHIRTAND SHORTS IS NOT ENOUGH - WE CAN ALWAYS TAKE LAYERS OFF BUT SHIVERING PLAYERS ARE UNHAPPY BUNNIES!! PLEASE MAKE SURE EACH PLAYER HAS A CHANGE OF CLOTHES AND A TOWEL ON WET DAYS - IT REALLY HELPS AFTERWARDS FINALLY, GUM SHIELDS - THEY ARE A MUST AND ARE FOR THE PLAYERS WELFARE - TAG RUGBY IS NOT A CONTACT SPORT BUT, AS IN ALL SPORTS, ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN. "BOIL IN THE BAG" GUM SHIELDS CAN BE BOUGHT FROM AS LITTLE AS £5 AND THEY DO HELP FROM THE SECOND TRAINING SESSION OF THE SEASON WE MUST AND WILL OPERATE A "NO GUM SHIELD NO PLAY" RULE.
