There are seven squads of between eight and ten players who will play one another and Grouville and Trinity Schools. Training for the A team, B team etc will be in addition to the squad games. The away fixtures for the B and C teams will be on the weekend of the 25th March 2012, to Havant and Teddington respectively; the Siam Cup games are in Guernsey on the 14th April and the A team will be playing in Havant on the 22nd April. Each child, we hope, will have the opportunity to travel.
19th February - A sunny morning and even with half term we managed to muster 40 children this morning who were all keen and ready to play. For some it had been a week of rugby having done the three day course with Dave McCormack. Due to the reduced numbers we had to combine some of the squads to make up unique team such as "Sharppos!" which was highly amusing to all involved! But great team spirit was very apparent.
Well done to Richard Hare, Oscar Maclean and Finn Hougardy who received player of the week awards for showing improvement in their game.

Training The U8s train at the Airport end of the 1st XV pitch on Sunday mornings, starting at 9.00 and finishing about 10.30. Parents are welcome to utilise the seating in the Lord Jersey Stand; in the Clubhouse and the Pavillion afterwards coffee, croissants and bacon rolls are available. In the event of the 1st XV pitch being unavailable; the beach at St Brelade is used (Opposite the Crab Shack). If the weather is really bad, the indoor five a side football pitches at Les Ormes can be used. 24 hours notice will be given for any changes to venue etc. so please check this webpage if you have any doubts.
Equipment Football/rugby boots are required for outdoor sessions, trainers for the the beach and Les Ormes sessions. Although at this age level tag rugby is played, gumshields will be required after the first couple of weeks. Clothing - In cold weather please ensure your child wears plenty of layers and a beany hat; when it is icy any gloves will help to keep the hands warm.
The main aim in this age group is to instil into the children a love of the game while they pick up some of the skills; most of all to make sure they enjoy their sessions and have fun. With the squad system no-one gets left out, there are strategies used to involve children of all skill levels and fitness in the games.
