Jersey 17 Cinderford 12
Jersey held on to win an extremely hard fought game of rugby to maintain their place at the top of National 1.
Jersey were first to score from a move that was started by McCormack on the 10m line when he kicked ahead. Jersey wrestled the ball from the Cinderford fullback, recycled it and Copsey popped up to score on his opposite wing.
The play swung from one side to the other and it was Jersey scored the second try of the afternoon when Thompson broke away and ran half the length of the pitch before being caught just shy of the line, but still had enough muscle to force his way over. Broadfoot converted - 12-0.
As the first half was coming to a close Cinderford had repeated penalties in the Jersey 22 which they opted to run and finally got their reward as Winchie split the Jersey centres to score under the posts - Teague converted to make it 12-7 at the break.
Jersey scored first again in the second half when were McCormack intercepted a pass on his own 22 and sprinted the length of the field to touch down in the corner. Conversion missed.
Cinderford kept the pressure on Jersey and eventually got reward with a well taken try for Codlin in the corner that went unconverted.
The final minutes were extremely tense for Jersey as Cinderford kept battling, but the home team held firm for a deserved win.
