New signing for 1st team squad at Jersey RFC

Jersey RFC have signed James Gethings, age 24, ex-Ireland Under 19 prop forward, and former captain of Irish Universities.

James's 'vital stats' include the following:

* played in U19 World Cup with, among others, Keith Earls and Cian Healy in 2006
* height: 188cm/ 6' 2"; weight: 118kg/ 18+stone
* joins from Esher RFC where he made 5 starts and 8 substitute appearances this season to date, after joining in Summer 2011; formerly played for Trinity College and Gonzaga College in Ireland
* plays loose- or tight-head prop
* subject to completing registration requirements, is likely to come onto the Jersey bench for this weekend's game vs Wharfedale.

Jersey Director of Rugby Ben Harvey: "We're delighted to have James on-board, initially for the remainder of this season. He comes to us highly recommended and I'm confident he'll become an asset to our squad. We have had some injuries in the front row this season and James's signing will bolster us in this department."
