Jersey v Cinderford, Saturday January 21st 2012. KO - 3pm
Extra measures for ticketing and ground entry are to be introduced by Jersey Rugby Club ahead of this Saturday's home game against Cinderford.
The revised arrangements are in response to unprecedented levels of support, which on Saturday saw a crowd of 3,648 at St Peter, twice the average attendance figure for the first half of the season.
"Last weekend's game was a top-of-the-table clash with Rosslyn Park, and we anticipated a big crowd, but were surprised by the sheer numbers who turned up," states Chairman Bill Dempsey. "We'll be bringing in additional measures to make sure we can comfortably accommodate future big crowds, starting with the game against Cinderford this Saturday."
To reduce queuing, advance tickets can be purchased for £10 at JRFC at St Peter between 10am and 1pm on Thursday and Friday, or from 6- 9pm on Thursday, or between 9am and 5pm from the front desk at the Jersey Evening Post or at the same times from Red Properties at 8, The Esplanade close to Liberation Bus Station.
Members can obtain tickets at the reduced rate of £3 - one ticket per member - from JRFC or Red Properties and must produce their membership cards when purchasing tickets and entering the ground.
Separate entrances to the ground will be available for members and ticket-holders, while the existing gates at the Rue des Landes and Jersey Bowl entrances will cater for 'walk-up' spectators buying their tickets on the day.
All spectators are urged to arrive early, and between 1.15pm and the 3pm kick-off there will be entertainment on the pitch in the form of a mini-rugby tournament, plus a kicking tournament for selected spectators who have the chance to win free membership and admission for the 2012/13 season.
To minimise congestion on the roads around St Peter, spectators are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and to consider travelling by bus, using the number 9 service direct to JRFC or the #15 service to the Airport.
Those who do wish to drive will be able to park on pitch 3, accessed via the Jersey Bowl entrance off the airport road, and on pitch 6 which can be accessed from Rue des Sauvalleries, off Rue des Landes (first turning on the right after the entrance to JRFC car park).
"The club will be working with the Honorary Police in St Peter to make sure things run smoothly, and members of the JRFC Academy will also be lending a hand and holding a voluntary bucket collection for their chosen charity, Brighter Futures," states Bill Dempsey. "We'll be able to accommodate everyone, and are looking forward to another great day for the club."
